tobi_vera.jpg Tobias Klein was born in Hutthurm, a small town in the Bavarian forest in 1983. He began his musical education at the age of 13. He started playing the piano and one year later the organ. In 1997 he wrote his first composition. He soon began to arrange and compose various pieces for the choir, orchestra and ensembles at the local grammar school and soon also for other local music ensembles. In 2000 he was introduced to the well-known composer Prof Ruth Zechlin and became her last composition student. He studied with her until her death in 2007. In 2001 he was awarded a composition-price.
After finishing secondary education in 2003 at the local grammar school and completing a year of social service, Tobias Klein then studied church music and organ at the 'Hochschule für kath. Kirchenmusik und Musikpädagogik' in Regensburg from 2004 to 2009. He studied organ with Prof. Franz Joseph Stoiber, and Prof. Stefan Baier; and conducting with Prof. Kunibert Schäfer. During that time some of his works were performed by the college's choir and also recorded on CD.
In 2007 he became acquainted with Hans Rotter, who introduced him to the world of the ocarina. With the help of Hans Rotter and Karin Pöchtrager he subsequently wrote a new instruction book for the 10-hole ocarina. That book turned out one of the most comprehensive pedagogical works for the ocarina currently available.
Since then he has continued arranging and composing for the ocarina and other instruments. As a composer he is especially interested in the unique sound of the ocarina and its manifold possibilities of producing exceptional sound effects.
At the moment Tobias Klein studies musicology and British and Irish Studies at the University of Regensburg. He also works as an arranger, composer and organist. Apart from that he keeps performing in concerts both as soloist on the organ and in different ensembles.

Vera Unfried was born in 1985. She began her musical education at the age of 7 with the recorder. Piano and organ followed. During her school time she attended a lot of master courses for recorder with Paul Leenhouts and she won first prizes on national and international competitions for recorder, alone and in a recorder - group.
2004 - 2008 she studied Music and Education at the University of Passau, where she is a teacher now. Only a few years ago, Tobias Klein showed her an Ocarina from Johann Rotter and she began to learn and play the Ocarina.
Now she is a performer and a teacher for all of her instruments and she loves to switch between Recorder, Ocarina, Piano and Organ.
